Are the Portuguese Caminos very crowded?

The Portuguese Camino has seen sustained growth of international pilgrims. Main itineraries from Porto: • Central Portuguese Camino – inland, historic and more structured route • Coastal Portuguese Camino (Litoral Path) – Atlantic route with a strong landscape component • Coastal Portuguese Camino (Official) - Atlantic route with a strong component of history and heritage (slightly more inland) • Porto-Braga Camino (Via Romana XVI) – ancestral route that recovers the ancient Roman road XVI to Braga (First Diocese in the Iberian Peninsula) Spring and summer are periods of higher influx. On the coastal route, prices can be higher due to bathing areas. For lower pilgrim density: • Prefer September or October • Plan alternative stages • Book accommodation in advance
